Hutan Bandar Bistro : Lot 3081, Jalan Yahya Awal

The Hutan Bandar Bistro

Hutan Bandar Bistro is located in the heart of JB, but it took us about one hour before we arrived here. The reason? – We could not decide on which places to go :). In the end, Mr S.I.C suggested this place. According to Mr S.I.C, this place is always packed with customers. When we arrived there, the place was not that packed. It was a good thing, because it’s getting late and we were not keen to wait..

Indoor seating with black and red deco

There were quite a variety of menu, ranging from local and western food. Since Mr S.I.C ordered grilled chicken (western), I decided to have fish and chips. The service was quite fast and what’s unique about this bistro, was the way the waiters served the food. I noticed that the person who served the food, stacked plates upon plates and balanced it with one hand. How on earth did they managed to do that? The thoughts of shattering plates, terrifies me =p. I wish I could show you, but I forgot to snap the pic.

Only RM 5 per plate! (@_@)V

The verdict : Both of us were quite satisfied with the food and the service. I think the price plays a major role for the number of customers. For me, the food was just on the 'ok' level, but since the price is sooo cheap compared to other eateries, I have to give a 'thumbs up' for this bistro :)

Secret Recipe: Aeon Bukit Indah Shopping Centre

Luas

Selesa
Miss S-I-B: Noodle In Tom Yum Soup - RM 13.50 dan Fresh Watermelon - RM 7

Harga sepinggan RM 3.50. Saya tengok ada beberapa pelanggan yang order take away sampai 5 6 bungkus sekali. Saya order dua pinggan. Kejap ja dah siap. Mereka juga ada jual Otak-Otak. Ada pelanggan beli sampai 3 4 bungkus beg plastik bawak balik. Laku betul la kan.

Saiz hidangan atau portion sepinggan mee rebus tersebut banyak pun tak, sikit pun tak. Elok-elok ja. Saya suka akan kuahnya yang pekat. Sekejap ja saya habiskan sampai licin pinggan hehe. Kami berdua puas hati.

Gloria Jean's Coffees: Plaza Angsana

Gloria Jean's Coffees

Each time I sipped the GJ original iced choc, I feel contented. It reminds me of the good old time where I used to enjoy it at least once a week during uni days with friends... There are only a few Gloria Jeans outlets in Msia and lucky enough, JB has it! :)

So, Mr S.I.C and I dragged our feet to Angsana to have a sip of it. I know Gloria Jean's is not as famous as StarBucks or Coffee Bean but I personally prefer it more than the latter. The good news is, you’ll get 30% off when you buy it on Tuesday. Apparently, there is a special promotion for ladies day (Tuesday). If I’m not mistaken, three years before, the ladies day promotion slashed off the price up to 50%. I guess they didn’t make any profits for doing so. Never mind. Better save a little than nothing, right? =). You can also ask for a ‘frequent sipper’ card. You’ll get a medium size drink of your choice when you purchase ten drinks. Don’t forget to bring along the card each time you purchase a drink, because they will keep track of the numbers. I like free stuff, who doesn’t? So, it’s great!

Mr S.I.C with his Creme Brulee whilst I chose my all time fav GJ original iced choc.

I can’t exactly remember the exact price of our drinks. Mine was about RM 15+ (large) and Mr S.I.C was about RM11+ (regular) before the 30% discount. Both of us love it =)

Malay Village Restaurant : Taman Nusa Bestari

As usual, Mr S.I.C and I went hunting for other eateries around JB. This time we ‘landed’ on Malay Village Restaurant.

The Menu

There was quite a huge selection of food and beverages, including Malay delicacies, deserts, a few Chinese cuisines, Western, etc. We took quite a long time to decide. Lastly, Mr S.I.C ordered seafood fried rice (RM7.90) and I ordered pineapple fried rice (RM7.90). For side dish, we decided to have a try on a set of steam dim sum, which cost around RM2.50. Actually, this was our first time trying a bite of dim sum and both of us love it! I personally think that a set of dim sum is not enough for one to indulge. Two sets for a person might be more satisfying as the quantity is too little :).

Mr S.I.C's seafood fried rice.

Mine: an A+ presentation of fried rice in a pineapple.

Egg & Fish Roll Dim Sum served with chilli & soy sauce.

Spacious & Comfy.

Overall, both of us like this two-storey restaurant. The deco was quite nice as you can choose to sit in the air-conditioned restaurant or simply choose to dine outside while enjoying the fresh air (the restaurant is located just beside a busy road, so you can probably guess how ‘fresh’ the air is yourself) :). I also like the fact that the service was very efficient and the food was served quite fast. We arrived there at about 8.15pm and finished eating around 9pm. I can tell that Mr S.I.C wants to come here again. He was disappointed because the set of dim sum that he wanted was not available that night =).

Johnny's Restaurant: Jusco Taman U Shopping Centre

Mamat tu pelik kot saya snap gambar depan kedai :)

Miss S-I-B sedang memulakan upacara nak makan ;)

Gaya seorang champion hehe

Nampaknya Miss S-I-B memang pandai guna chopsticks manakala saya pula terkial-kial nak kepit.

Tutti Frutti: Bandar Baru Uda

Front view of Tutti Frutti BBU.

I’ve been to Tutti Frutti a few times at Taman Molek but this was the first time I went to one in BBU with Mr S-I-C. I still remembered the first time I went to Tutti Frutti. I was feeling quite lost because I didn’t know ‘how’ and ‘what’ I’m supposed to do. So, here are a few basic steps before you get to enjoy the ‘froyo’ a.k.a ‘fresh yogurt’.

Inside Tutti Frutti - comfy and soothing.

First, you have to decide the size of the cup – small, medium and large. Second, choose flavours of yogurt that you like by pressing the handle. Third, choose toppings to go with the yogurt. There were quite huge selections of toppings such as fresh fruits, marshmallows, candies, gummies, cereals, chocolate syrup, etc. Once you are satisfied with your ‘creation’, you can bring the cup to the counter and pay. If I’m not mistaken, the price is about RM 5.30 per 100 gram. So, don’t get over-excited and piled the yogurt and toppings in your cup, unless you are willing to pay quite a hefty amount to enjoy it :)
Small, medium and large.

Choose the flavour that you like.

Mr S-I-C's and mine.

Overall, both of us enjoyed eating the yogurt. Mr S-I-C nearly got a ‘brain-freeze’ eating it because it was cold and we were sitting right under the aircond! =). I was having problem concentrating on the taste of the yogurt because I was shivering =P. But we like it enough to come again, next time. I forgot the exact amount of the price, but it was below RM 30.

Restoran Johan: Perling

Minuman sampai dulu macam biasa. Ok sedap puas. Kemudian makanan kami sampai. Order Miss S-I-B dah silap. Yang dipesan Nasi Goreng Padprik tapi yang sampai Nasi Putih Padprik tapi Miss S-I-B ok ja relax :) Saya tak tau la kat mana yang tak kena, nasi goreng saya tak rasa masin pun padahal saya order Nasi Goreng Ikan Masin. Dok perati, tak nampak pun cebisan ikan masin. Sekali lagi, pelik tapi benar. Namun saya tiru aksi Miss S-I-B, saya jadi ok relax jugak :)

Namun telahan saya silap. Makanan masih “gagal” sekali lagi. Jumlah tepat kos malam tersebut pun saya dah lupa. Mungkin RM 17.50 kalau tak silap.

Opps Cheese Tart: Jusco Bukit Indah

Opps Cheese Tart
Mr S.I.C suggested trying this cheese tart. It was no surprise since he is a ‘cheese junky’ =). There were 12 different flavors to choose from such as almond, charcoal, strawberry, blueberry, pumpkin, marble, lemon and many manyyy more! The different array of flavors makes us spoilt for choice.

Since both of us were not that hungry, we ordered only two cheese tarts. Mine was strawBERRY whilst he chose blueBERRY. We ate the cheese tart at the shop itself and both of us enjoyed it BERRY much! =)

Mine & His  =)

I like the fact that the cheese tart was pretty to look at and the shop was quite cozy. The woman behind the counter was very nice, attentive and she smiled a lot, which is a plus point.

Each cheese tart costs about RM3.80. However, if you buy more, you’ll get a special price. A box of 6 cheese tarts costs around RM21 and 12 for RM38. Frankly, one is enough for me because the cheesy and creamy taste was quite filling. However, I think Mr S.I.C could eat more than two at one go :)

Nasi Ayam Baser: Kota Tinggi

I heard about this place quite a few times from those whose hometown located in Kota Tinggi. Since this chicken rice was supposed to be so ‘famous’, Mr S.I.C and I were both keen to have a try. So, off we go to Kota Tinggi :)

It turned out that Nasi Ayam Baser has three other franchise, which are located not too far away from each other. It was quite easy to find it because of the big red sign and it is located strategically. However, if you have problems finding it, you can always ask, as locals would definitely know.

Location 1
Location 2
Location 3
We tried two out of the three eating outlets and concluded that it was just on the ‘okay’ level. I think I had set high expectation of this place because many of my friends said that it was really good. So, when the taste doesn’t meet up my expectations, I was quite disappointed. Mr S.I.C said that different people have different expectations and preferences, so they might enjoy the food while others don’t. I couldn’t agree more. So, why not give it a try and you be the judge :)

We ordered two plates of chicken rice that comes with a bowl of soup, ‘sambal’ and roasted chicken. For side dish, we ordered ‘capcai’ (fried mix veggies).

The total was about RM18.50.
